The south elevation opens to the sun allowing for passive heating and daylighting, while the north side is lowered minimizing surface area. The house is also buffered from the cold west winds by the garage which provides an ideal surface for future solar installations. The black panel solar wall and second floor solar porch collect thermal energy and distributes heated air with thermostatic electric fans. While the sun porch curving windows and increased glazing suggest opening the inside to nature.
